CYBER KNIFE

An Introduction to
Cyber Knife Treatment

The video above provides an overview of Cyber Knife and what you can expect during a Cyber Knife procedure:

CyberKnife is the world's first and only robotic radiosurgery system accurate enough to target small and complex tumors anywhere in the body. Stereotactic radiosurgery, despite its name, is a non-surgical procedure and that uses precisely targeted radiation.

It is a safe alternative to surgery and uses a high-energy x-ray machine on a robotic arm to deliver the radiation beams. The Swedish Radiosurgery Center treats patients with cancerous and non-cancerous tumors anywhere in the body.

Real time patient monitoring allows for accurate dose delivery to the target area with minimal exposure to surrounding healthy tissue. This is particularly beneficial in the treatment of lung, breast, liver, pancreas, kidney and other abdominal or thoracic tumors that move when the patient breathes.

Cyber Knife benefits

  • Preserves healthy tissue surrounding the target area

  • Real time tumor tracking

  • Non-invasive procedure

  • No general anesthesia

  • Outpatient procedure

  • Few, if any, side effects
