Cle Elum — This fly fishing trip down the Cle Elum and Yakima River is more than just a one day adventure, it’s the end of a long journey.Amy Clise, Breast Cancer survivor says, “This is something totally new.”Clise has never been fly fishing but she’s up for the challenge.

She’s part of a group of women spending the day on the river as part of Northwest Hospital’s breast cancer treatment.

Charles Cooper, fly fishing guide says, “Its more the adventure of going down the river throwing good casts and seeing fish come up.”

It’s an escape a change to get away from the mental and physical strain of dealing with Cancer.

The day isn’t all about the fish, there is a little bit work that goes along with it.

Because with every cast these patients are getting some real physical therapy.

They’re working on upper body strength that’s been weakened from mastectomies, radiation and chemotherapy.

Participants say the trip was an escape from reality surrounded by friends and Mother Nature.
